Beginning Jan. 1, we will take part in a 30-day Fast which culminates with a Worship Night at the church on Tuesday, January 30th 7:00-8:00pm.
Fasting is more than denying ourselves food. It isn’t really even about being hungry. While we do get hungry when we fast, fasting is really about experiencing more of God. When we are physically weak from not eating, we become more sensitive to God and the things of God. We experience Jesus on a deeper level. It is about choosing voluntary weakness so that Christ may abound even more within us – to choose Discipline over Desire.
Whether it’s food, TV, social media or something else, fasting is a beautiful way for us to surrender the wants and needs of our physical lives to draw closer to the Lord as we pursue Him through prayer and discipline. Fasting is no easy task, but you will see that the Lord will give you the strength to continue when you most need it!
There are countless stories we can share where God has revealed Himself to people through Fasting and Prayer. It’s not easy, but nothing in life that is worth something is easy. Please take a few moments to pray and ask God what it is that He wants you to surrender to Him for the next 30 days.
